I have a few pets and within the past two years I have lost my dog and two of my cats. My one cat died from cancer and a few weeks later my dog suddenly died. A few weeks after that my other cat started acting sick. We took her to the vet and he said she was ok. She never got better so we took her back in about a month later and that’s when he told us she had a mass in her abdomen. For some reason he didn’t tell us the first time we brought her in. Then when we brought her back in, a year later, the day we had to put her down, he told us then that when he first saw her he didn’t think she would have lived as long as she did. So, he’s not telling us everything.
Now, I still have a 17 year old cat and he has lost weight within a month. I took him in and my vet said he looks great for his age. He did blood work and said everything looked good. I don’t know if I believe that. I kinda want a second opinion. My mom said that maybe it is just old age but for him to lose a few pounds within a month, my mom thinks that maybe my vet just don’t want to tell us if something is very wrong because of what has happened in the past two years and how many pets we have lost. I mean would a vet do that? Would they not tell you the whole truth or keep things from you? Should I just look for a new vet?
