Hi everyone. I am 23 and live away from home as a college student. My parents have a 6 year old Rottweiler named Meeka. A little background, my parents live in a rural town on a ranch and have that old school mentality of "they're just dogs". Over the past few years they've gotten softer, but a visit to the vet is still something that rarely crosses their minds. Meeka had never been spayed and they recently tried to breed her...IMO she is too old and they don't know what they're doing. She got hit by a car, and lost the pups. My dad said she probably had an infection and absorbed the pups because she was smelly. Now, about 2 months later, she's acting normal but is extremely skinny, you can see all of her bones. I've tried covincing my dad to take her in (numerous times over the years), but he thinks she'll bounce back and doesn't want to pay the vet bills. I myself cannot afford to take her in, but I don't want to just sit back and watch as her health deteriorates (when it shouldn't be). What's the right thing to do in this situation?
