Border collie mix afraid to go outside

I have a 6 year old cattle dog/border collie mix and she is terrified of thunder or any other loud booming kind of noise. She has been acting a little strange for the past few days, spending a lot of time under my desk and in the kitchen which are her "safety" spots, eating a little less and wanting to go outside less. I live in SoCal and at first I attributed it to a tiny earthquake we had, but that was over three days ago. Today when I grabbed her leash and asked if she wanted to go outside, she did her usual excitement routine and was acting completely normal, but as soon as I opened the front door she ran back inside and even tried to hide under the couch, which she has never done before. And once we were outside, she kept trying to turn back and pull back home.

The only difference in today that I've noticed is that its been sunny all week but today it is cloudy outside. Since she is terrified of thunder is it possible that she is associating the cloudy weather outside with her biggest fear, or even that she is sensing it's supposed to rain later this week (which she also would associate with thunder)? Or could this be something left over from the earthquake a few days ago?
