I recently moved apartments and my formerly quiet 2 year old female cat will continually meow at random corners of the apartment. It almost sounds like she’s whining or crying vs her more friendly meows. She used to do this in my old place as well but not nearly as often as she has begun to do here. There it was also a daytime behavior, but now she exclusively does this at night. It’s been around 2 weeks now and it’s only getting more frequent. She’s spayed, up to date on all shots, and is healthy from what I can tell (her brother tends to get vocal when he’s not feeling well so her health was my first concern). I do think it might be an attention thing more than anything else. I’ve moved with her twice before as well as sometimes taken her between my place and my parents house and this has never happened.
I feel like I give her plenty of attention during the day. I am currently working from home and frequently take breaks to play and per her. She also has her brother to play with and entertain her as well. I’ve been trying to ignore her whenever she does this but she will just come closer and do it louder. I’m just going through a lot of issues with sleeping lately and her crying all night is making it harder to solve. Any suggestions on how to help her would be much appreciated! Or if anyone else has gone through something like this, what are some other causes besides boredom, attention-seeking behavior, or illness could I have missed that I should try to look into?
