My wife's 9 year old cat recently had a mass removed (along with his spleen) that was done back in January. It could have ended his life so we're very lucky it was caught when it was. However, since then he's been a completely different cat. He's very fiesty and full of life again but at the same time he hisses A LOT. My 3 year old car will try to initiate play with him, he'll hiss. They'll be sitting next to each other peacefully then suddenly loses his mind and hisses and runs even though my cat is sitting there doing nothing. If my cat walks into the room or LOOKS at him a certain way, he'll hiss. I was trying to move him out of the closet, he hissed. My dog was sniffing him, he hissed. The stress of him hissing at everyone and everything is honestly getting exhausting. It was brought up to the vet and he said to let our cats work out their differences (even though they've lived together for the past 3 years) but now it's affecting me and my dog and sometimes even my wife. He adores her but will hiss if my cat is in view. Like I said, it's usually unprovoked so I don't know if he's constantly on edge or what is going on. Can anyone offer some insight here?
