My fiancé got me a cat for Christmas that someone else found roaming the streets. She is super sweet but is constantly trying to get out whenever we use the front door.
I am starting it this late because my cat was pregnant without us knowing when we first got her so had to handle the kittens first. I got her spayed so no more surprises. Now they are all in their new homes and I want to start taking her out on a harness.
She used live outside and has escaped several times but she never strayed far and has always came back. I don’t want her to roam free because there are a lot of wild animals where I live.
I have taken her out with a harness and leash but she does not like them at all. She hasn’t scratched me but she tries to escape every time. She also growls whenever I pick her up to bring her inside.
I try to keep these sessions outside longer rather than shorter but it is hard as I have to do chores and work from home. I do play with her when I cant take her outside but it doesn’t seem to be enough.
How do I get her to like the leash and harness better?
