My last rat has passed away a month ago, and I want to get a new small mammal to love. I’ve ruled out guinea pigs, rats, chinchillas, and the larger rodents because they require a lot of space and live for longer periods of time (I’ll be going to college in a year, maybe out of state, and I don’t want to unload them onto my family). It’s between mice and hamsters. On one hand, I only need one hamster, where as I would need 2+ mice. On the other hand, I really want to teach my pet tricks, which mice are better at learning, but mice are also better escape artists. Any ideas or thought on what I should do or think about?
