I desperately need advice on how handle my dog during the day while at work, or if you believe it’s unhealthy for him to be with me.
I have a 2 year old male Maltipoo that was previously able to use a doggy door to go in and out of the house to go potty. I have since moved, and I am trying to retrain him when going potty. I tried just letting him roam my apartment during the day while I am at work with pee pads throughout the house. But he has been peeing everywhere but the pads. It is becoming pretty difficult to manage.
I feel horrible locking him up in the kennel, because depending on the day, he can be alone for about 8-12 hours a day. So I’ve opted on putting him in the garage, but I still feel horrible about it, because it’s obvious he hates it. As I come home I can hear him crying from the garage, it’s heart breaking.
Is my schedule not a good fit for my dog? I feel like I should possibly re-home him with someone who is able to be with him more throughout the day, instead of locking him up in the garage.
Any advice is appreciated. Thank you.
