Hey guys. So after memorial day my family and I went on a 10 day trip to Orlando. It was the first time we left my 1 year old kitten at home for an extended period of time. We had someone come in every day to feed him and our older cat (wasn’t the older cat’s first time alone). All the doors in the house were shut minus my bedroom door and the bathroom as the older cat has a history of pissing on the beds if we’re gone for more than a few days.
Ever since we came back, he’ll cry and meow whenever the door to my parents room is closed. This wasn’t an issue before we left. At first I thought it was because he couldn’t access his favorite spot (under the bed) but now he’ll just meow constantly until someone opens the door only to lay in the doorway. The only time he won’t do this is sometime between 8pm-4am, which is nice in theory, but being constantly woken up at 4am isn’t fun. Plus, my mom works from home during the day so she’ll be working and he’ll be crying at her door since she likes it closed. If I keep him in my own room, he’ll just meow non-stop at my door and just overall be a nuisance. It’s not even my mom he’s after it’s just the fact the dumb door is closed that seems to set him off.
Is there any way I can stop this behavior? He’s coming with me in he fall and I’m worried this may continue and piss off my roommates. Also I miss sleep :(
