Before I say anything regarding the situation. I was thinking about adopting a second cat anyways. I’m only a little leery of adopting another cat cause I don’t want them fighting in a very aggressive way.
I adopted a new cat about 3 weeks ago from a family. I live by myself so I’m sure the cat is lacking the attention he’s used to even though I play with him and we have petting sessions. I’m gone 12hrs for work so he’s alone most of the time. He yowls at night and even during the day. I’ve played with him and pet him but he’ll walk away from be and start yowling in another room.
He’s a very sweet Mainecoon cat but will randomly out of the blue bite or scratch me really hard (no signs of aggressiveness beforehand or anything or I would move away). I’ve talked to the family and apparently this is normal for him. Their Vet said he doesn’t have an imbalance, he’s just a little more aggressive than most cats.
The family says their kid used to play very rough with him and he stated doing this and they would just put him in another room.
I’ve started carrying a water spray for the times it happens so I can try to get this out of him before it becomes an issue but I think some of the aggressiveness is loneliness. I think he may need some one to play constantly with.
Should I adopt another cat?
