Ok. Last night i am still shaking from i was so mad and shocked. Hurt as well. I was just falling asleep when my GF woke me up yelling... "Wake up. The cat!!! She was on her way to the porch to come in for the night, but saw a skunk(HUGE) and started chasing it!" My GF was afraid almost in tears and begged me to find her and get her in. It was about 9:30 p.m. So i put shoes on, grab the magic bag of treats lol...and proceed to look for our Baby. She kept running away as soon as I would get close. She plays that way. So she is like 2 houses down from mine. She goes up their drive way. Its a very big open space. Well lit. Im about 4 steps up driveway and someone yells "Get off my landlord's property or I am calling the cops". I told him what i was doing just trying to get my cat because there is a big skunk she was trying to go up to. I even pointed to my cat and showed him the treats(mind you i couldn't see him...he was yelling from 3rd floor window with lights off). He said "Yeah i know your cat and i dont care. Shes fine. She can take care of herself. I have seen her around. She will be fine." So i forgot to mention he used the F word in the first sentence. He said get off my landlord's f-ing property. UNCALLED FOR. Not neighborly whatsoever. I asked him if he was gonna give my cat a bath when she got sprayed. Because that is what I am trying to avoid. He kept threatening me with police. I was literally 1/3 up the driveway. I just couldn't believe this. I finally said NO. YOU ARE BEING UNREASONABLE. I AM NOT BOTHERING ANYONE. I WILL LEAVE WHEN I GET MY CAT. But the yelling scared her and she ran back towards my house. So,... My question is: I live in Connecticut. Is it trespassing if you are trying to rescue your animal? Would the police have done anything??? He didnt end up calling btw. Shocker. I would think he was either drunk, or having a really bad day to act this way to a neighbor for no reason. Humanity nowadays disappointed me last night. (Also, My cat ended up coming in a half hour later without being sprayed! Thank goodness...) Just curious what people think about this situation. I was so upset it took over an hour for me to calm down.
