Hi guys!
This is my first post here, but now that I found this subrredit I'll be posting a lot more.
I rescued my lovebird off the street on a stormy afternoon 3 or 4 years ago (i apologize for bad grammar and general confusion - english isn't my first language and I'm extremely sick).
She came with a few issues - she doesn't trust anyone to touch her. Not even me. That's the main issue. I've taken her to the vet and they told me she's a very very anxious bird, not for any known factor - she has a ton of toys, i followed every advice given by the vet and she still won't let me touch her. We agreed that maybe in her last home she was under some abuse or general hurt by her owner, and that explains her behaviour. I've learnt to respect her space.
Yesterday night, she laid an egg. She's done this before twice - one time, she laid one egg. The other time, she laid two eggs. Right now, it's just one.
She doesn't have other birds around, so the egg won't hatch. Still, she takes care of it and is a lot more relaxed and happy now.
Here's the problem: I usually get two advices when this happens - either throw the egg out immediately or let her lose interest in it.
What do you guys think? What's your experience with this? I'd really really appreciate your help and advice.
