I just got a cat, she's maybe 1.5 but skinny. What I do right now is put enough kibble in the bowl and fill it up when it's empty because she doesn't really eat the dry food, the kibble comes from the RSPCA store. I feed her usually some of the meat I eat at night so if I eat chicken which I usually always do then i chop a few cubes and strips for her and she loves it. I don't know if I should be giving her more food or more complex food? I gave her some of that store bought wet food in a cat a pretty expensive brand and she doesn't really eat it fast enough so it sits and dries up. So is kibble and chicken/meat at night good? she's a stay at home cat.
