So my cat was recently diagnosed with renal/kidney disease. Caught early so that's great! Vet wants to begin with just changing the diet to see if that's all that's needed for now to manage the disease.
Well. I got a free sample from the vet with the Hill prescription k/d food. I mixed it with her old food as recommended, I even added more of her old food to it. She will not eat it. But she seems to like the k/d stew and pate (which is strange as she won't eat the pate form of the wet food she goes crazy for). I'm concerned about getting another brand of food for this same result and I don't have the money to feed her wet food every day (and I don't want her becoming a spoiled brat as a result of I'm being honest 😂 (for real though. I love my cat to death and all the sass she has, even if she were to become spoiled)). Any suggestions besides trying a different brand? I believe when I first got her and took her to the vet she even didn't like the normal Hill dry food I got as a sample so maybe it's just the brand she doesn't like, but again, just fear she doesn't like any of the other brands too. Hopefully it's just this brand.
Also, I'm on Chewey looking at kidney food and one of them is blue Buffalo grain free. I know grain free has issues right now but some brands are reputable and aren't worrisome like the others. Is this an okay brand? But I feel like I need food with grain though anyway as I was told high carb, low protein diet to make it easier on the kidneys to process.
Please let me know of any suggests/brands/anything you may have to offer!!
(If it helps I live in Pennsylvania in the states. Not sure if it helps for resources or availability or anything).
