Hi all,
Firstly I'd like to say thank you for the nice words and helpful advice everyone gave me on the original post which can be found below. It's also there for context.
I rushed him to the vet at 9am, he was seen by 10:30. The nurse did a quick check and he was bright and hydrated, he had eaten before hand and was moving freely and being super inquisitive. Which she loved and liked the look of. She did a physical but couldn't feel any swelling because he was so tensed up. He weighed in at 6kg which is overweight (we are addressing that once he is better) The vet came in and felt a little bit of bladder and suspected it was cystitis but wanted to treat it as a blockage. So he was sedated and before I left I gave him his toy mouse which he has had since he was a kitten (first toy I bought him) and he still sleeps with it. He took it in his paw, dropped it and reached for me. Gave him a quick cuddle and a kiss and he was taken out back. I left. He was then sedated, a small patch of fur removed and he had an ultrasound. No stones blocking anything. But she did notice some crystals in his bladder which seemed to be forming a blockage. She then applied a catheter which she said was administered easy enough. She drained his bladder, gave him some painkillers. She took a sample of urine and blood which has been sent off. She then called me to advise me it is cystitis but he did have a small blockage by crystals in his bladder.
He is now home, purring and rubbing as normal, although a little out of it still. He has had some food and plenty of fluid. He is on tablets and something called metacam.
She said he is going to be straining a bit for the night but I should see improvement in the morning in terms of pee. She also said he took extremely well to the sedative, the best she has seen in a cat.
After she gets the results back she can see if she needs to prescribe something else for infection. We have also said he needs specialised food and a diet plan to lose weight.
I made a horrible choice and ignored my cats needs because I thought he was just whining for attention like he always does. Today I thought I was going to lose my baby, the only thing that helps me when I'm depressed or have anxiety. The only thing I really truly love and it was down to me being a bad cat dad. Please if you're reading this and you're in the same position as me. Go to the vet and get it sorted.
