My cat is almost 9 years old. She's a very calm cat and likes to sleep all day. She isn't very active. I also have a border collie who is extremely hyper and has a high prey drive.
Our current solution is blocking the dog from the garage and having the cat there. At night, I bring my dog upstairs and let the cat roam free, so that while my dog is asleep, my cat can do her nocturnal duties around the house and the yard. By about 10AM the next day, we put the cat away and let the dog roam again.
The problem with this is that the litter box is in the living room because the garage is my dad's office. He does not want the cat in the garage anymore because she soils herself whenever we have company over. The noises are too loud so she hides and goes to the bathroom in the garage instead of her litter box. My dad does not want the litter box in there.
I have elected to purchase my cat a cat tree for these reasons. The tree would be near her litter box. Ideally, I'd want a really tall tree with a very private section(condo) as high as possible. Here, she can be hidden away from my dog and take her naps. She can be in the corner of the house (she likes small spaces).
Some of the cat trees I have found do not have the condo very high up. Sometimes, the condos will be halfway up or lower.
Anyone know what other types of cat trees I can look at for this specific situation?
