I filled out an adoption form for two cats that needed a new home. The owner, or I think it was the owner, it might’ve been someone working with the owner to find a good home, told me she won’t be adopting out to me. I asked if it’s because I’m a minor. No reply. I asked if there was something I could to do change her mind. She told me it was because I’m under eighteen and no one would let a minor adopt a pet. I didn’t know this was a thing but apparently it’s very common and a mistake on my part for not knowing. I then asked if my parents could adopt and her exact words were, “They could but they couldn’t transfer ownership to you and the cat would need to remain with them when you move out. They would have to go through the approval process including the interviews. Their adopting the cats can’t be an a round about way for you to get the cat.” I was confused and my fragile feelings were a little hurt. Could someone conform this? I couldn’t find anything about it online.
