Hello everyone. I hope this is the place to ask for advice about my cat's (somehow) recent behavior.
As of late, he has been peeing outside his litter box, mostly on the front door. However, he also sprays on other things: furniture, boxes, bookshelves (sometimes hits the books), heaters, washing machine... I'm not sure he has a pattern over the things he urinates upon.
I took him to the vet and they found a slight urinary tract infection. He got treatment and seemed to stop his urinating outside the litter boxes for a couple of days. Unfortunately, I've been finding traces of urine in the same places, although not as much as before. Still, I'm concerned.
He tends to do this during the evening and at night when everybody is asleep and he's got the house for himself. Also, I've noticed that he would urinate when my wife and I go out. We even went to a convenience store two blocks away for no more than fifteen minutes and he urinated a heater.
He has a pet door to go to the backyard from where it's impossible to jump into another house's backyard or the street. Such door is always open as no other cats can come into our house. He has a spot to go to the bathroom outside, which I also clean regularly.
In the end, I think he is very comfortable and has all his needs met, but I don't understand his behavior. I'm taking him back to the vet next week, but I would appreciate any piece of advice.
