Need advice for my dog with severe separation anxiety!

My dog is the sweetest, most well behaved boy most of the time, but when my partner and I leave for work he is terribly distraught. He physically shakes when he sees us putting shoes on/grabbing backpacks, etc. We hold him and comfort him for a few minutes before closing him in our bedroom (where he also sleeps and is fed his meals). When we try to close the door, he relentlessly tries to escape. When we pick him up to put him back in the room, he bites our hands with near full force, leaving scratches and bruises. He also will not eat his food unless both of us are home and sitting in the room with him. Does anyone have tips to help with these things? The most concerning thing is the biting.
