I just joined because I’m getting really frustrated with this problem. My cat (m5) is wonderful in many ways, but at night, he always likes to go outside and roam the neighborhood. My family and I used to be okay with it, but now it’s becoming a big issue because he comes back home with injuries and scars. Just recently, he got an infection from what we believe is a bite and he was super sick just yesterday.
Not only this, but every house in my neighborhood has a dog and a lot of them are specifically guard dogs. Feral cats are also around and overall, there’s just a lot of danger I would like to prevent.
I don’t want to completely keep him from going outside (since he usually uses the bathroom outside), but I want him to be safe.
I’ve been thinking of getting him a crate to sleep in at night (since he occasionally poops in the house), but I have a good feeling he’ll hate that.
Any ideas? Sorry for long post btw.
A few notes: - he is fixed - I have two other cats in the house who all seem to get along for the most part - he was born a stray but I raised him as a kitten
tl;dr: cat goes out at night and gets hurt. Wanna keep him safe without making him miserable.
