Need some info on fleas on my Cat

I found one flea on my cat and the next day treated her with the spot on liquid treatment. I've put the cone collar on her head (she is now very depressed), but I was wondering how long should I keep the collar on for? Do I need to bath my cat? (will be impossible). After say, 24 hours, is she ok to just clean it her self?
