Advice on adopted cat - I'm at a loss

Hi everyone, throwaway because this topic makes me a bit uncomfortable.

I adopted a cat from a shelter about 6mo ago. She is the sweetest baby alive and I'm lucky to have her in my life.

The thing is, when I adopted her, the shelter said she was most likely 5yo. However, after 2 months she started getting sick. As in, I'm at the vet about twice a month.

First she got epilepsy and while it was a traumatic experience, we have gotten it under control (after a lot of dosage adjustments etc).

Recently, her teeth have also started to fall out (despite the vet doing dental treatments every time she goes in).

She also has eye infections regularly.

Finally, her paw got infected out of the blue.

She has only been fed Hills wet and dry food, healthy snacks, she's an indoor cat and I clean (vacuum, mop, dust) my place twice a week.

There is nothing toxic to cats that she can reach as my place had been previously cat-proofed for my former little one, who lived out a pretty healthy long life.

The vet told me that she is getting diseases which suggest that she is much, much older than we thought. Is this possible? And is there anything I could be doing wrong?! The vet doesn't think so, but maybe someone out there has had a similar experience? It just sucks because it seems like she knows something's wrong with her (less playing, lethargic, weightloss) and the doctors can't figure it out.
