So a little backstory, I used my 5 gallon tank for my betta fish Mahtzi, who unfortunately passed away from dropsy a month ago. I decided that after Mahtzi, I didn’t want any more fish or aquatic life. I do not want to go through the rigorous task of cycling a tank again. I also got rid of everything that touched the water- including silk plants, filters, and thermometers- because I didn’t know the cause of his dropsy, and I didn’t want to risk it again. No medicine I bought seemed to work either. The aquarium is thoroughly cleaned and dried, but I just don’t want to risk it with another betta fish.
Anyways, what can I put in a 5 gallon tank? I am just looking for ideas, because taking care of living things is somewhat of a therapy for me. I tend to put a lot of work and research into my pets, because I am at peace when I know the thing I’m taking care of is happy. And it doesn’t have to be animal! I know it’s small, and really only fit for one betta fish.
I’ll take any ideas at all. Snails, slugs, I don’t care. Even insects, or non-aquatic plants. I love everything, it’s just a matter of what will be adequate or right for a tank. Just nothing fully aquatic. I can deal with humidity lovers, I just can’t do aquatic. It will be a while before I make any type of decision, I’m just curious.
Thank you!
