Will my cat ever stop going after the auto feeder?

So my cat is a big girl, I have her on a diet and she is the most food motivated animal I've probably ever seen.

In an effort to help with the diet and my fluxuating schedule I got her an auto feeder. Its a nice one that is totally sealed and you can't see the food inside. I have no concerns about her busting it open, its just not going to happen.

However, ever since I started using it two days ago she spends SO much time pawing, scratching, and pulling on it. I'm sure she can smell the food in there. Again I'm not worried about her getting into it, but she has already scratched the control panel on the front and she's woken me up multiple times in the middle of the night scratching and clawing at it.

Has anyone with an auto feeder experienced this? Does the cat ever give up and realize she won't get in? I also don't love the thought of torturing her with the smell of food that she can't get to. Any help is appreciated!
