Adopted a 10 year old cat two weeks ago.

This is my first ever reddit post so sorry if its a little all over the place.

A little context: He was living in a shelter for a little more than a year and we believe he was abandoned in some way shape or form by his previous owners. His 3rd eyelid is showing in one of his eyes and it weeps sometimes, but the shelter told me they had tried several methods of curing it and they think its just scar tissue.

Anyways, I am a first time solo cat owner. I had cats growing up, but they were always raised from kittens with my family in a big house. Now I live in an apartment with two other people and another one year old cat. I adopted him because he's a 10 year old black cat so his chances of getting adopted were super low and I've always wanted to rescue a cat who needed it the most. The first week I had him he would sleep all day and night, only waking up to walk around my room a little, eat, and use the litter box. When I would feed him he would eat all his food at once and then only eat again later in the day. Now, after two weeks, we have introduced him to the other cat and the rest of the apartment. He now will meow loudly in the middle of the night to be let out of my room to go into the rest of the apartment, he has random bursts of intense energy (only lasts about 10 minutes) and is a lot more active, and eats all the food he is given but over a longer period of time and not all at once. Ive got him on a wet food/dry food mix and a probiotic (he was a little constipated last week). He doesn't pee too many times a day, but when he does pee, its a pretty noticeable amount if you know what I mean, but he always makes it to the box.

Now, Im not saying any of this is bad. I love him being active and comfortable in the home. Do I wish I could sleep through the night without him meowing me awake like the first week, prior to other cat introduction? Sure, but if he wants to get out of the room thats okay. Im just worried because I googled increased energy in older cats and I am going down a hole and I am very scared. I took him to the vet recently but because of everything going on with Covid, I could not go into the vet with him and kinda got a quick Yeah he is all good. I had more questions to ask but it seemed like the vet knew what she was saying. He also got an antibiotic shot at the vet for a little scratch he got, and thats when his behavior and eating habits really noticeably shifted.

All in all I just need to hear from other cat owners because I am freaking out. This is my first cat and I love him so god damn much and I want him to have the best life he possibly can. I just keep worrying myself because I know cats are masters at covering their pain. He seems happy and is the biggest snuggle bug ever. I guess I am just looking for validation that this is normal? An increase in night time/ early morning energy (he still sleeps a LOT) and a change in eating habits mostly. Sorry if I sound crazy, I just want to make sure I am doing the best for my cat.

TL;DR : Cat behavior changed after vet visit, not sure if for better and is still normal, or shows an underlying issue. ISO validation?
