Apparently when we let him on to our porch on Sunday morning, there was a subtle crack in the door leading to the outside. He has been missing without a trace. Behind my house are some woods for about 50 yds and a railroad track after that. After the railroad tracks it is just dense woods for over a mile. There are houses on either side of ours the entire length of the street (several miles) and on the opposite side as well. We have put up flyers around a 0.5 mile radius extending from our home. We have searched the woods we could access, calling his name and shaking cat treats both day and late evening. We left the door to the porch open in case he comes back unexpectedly. And today we put out cat litter and blankets he’s slept on in our yard. Neighbors have called and said they’ve seen a cat, but it hasn’t been ours. Though there’s no evidence for it, I think he maybe dead. With the weather warming, the snakes are coming out in the woods, and I’m sure coyotes and other birds of prey live in there as well. Any words of wisdom or encouragement would be greatly appreciated.
