PSA from your local Animal Shelter worker: MICROCHIP YOUR ANIMALS!!!!

Most of the animals we get used to be someone's pet. And 99% of the time they aren't returned to their owners.

Most of the cats we receive are not feral and were obviously someone's pet before they ended up with us.

If you have an outdoor cat, (which is a whole other debate in of itself) all it takes is one person to drive by and see your cat thinking it's a stray that needs help. In some cities/towns/counties are only required to hold a cat for reclaim for as little as 3 days before they are made available for adoption. Meaning while you're waiting for your kitty to come home, it may be getting adopted by another person and gone forever because you didn't think it was worth the time and money to microchip your animals.

Also, it's not uncommon for estranged exs or family members to steal pets from their owners and take them to a shelter to be abandoned. Microchipping protects that from happening.

It can happen to anyone. I see it happen to animals every week. And every few weeks someone comes into the shelter and leaves heartbroken because their best friend has come and gone through our doors and they will never get them back. PLEASE for your sake and for the sake of your pets:

GET THEM MICROCHIPPED!!!!!!
