My dog is 2 years old. He is a mini Australian shepherd. He’s a great boy, smart and funny and sweet. He’s so gentle with my toddler and never ruins our furniture or anything like that. Overall he’s a great boy and I love him very much. But there’s one problem that is truly impacting our life and it’s that he is SO loud, barks at everything, and will NEVER stop whining.
If anyone walks past the house he barks. If he sees a squirrel in the backyard he barks. If he wants something he barks. If he wants you to pet him he barks. He barks at our cats, he whines for attention, and it’s gotten to the point where I don’t even know what to do with him anymore. I know he needs more exercise but due to COVID we cannot take him for walks in our neighborhood right now and I try my best to take him in the back yard and play with his jolly ball everyday or take him to this open field near our house, but it doesn’t seem to help.
I don’t want to get him a shock collar or anything but I’m so desperate for him to be more quiet. It’s truly impacting our relationship. I don’t know what to do with him anymore he’s just SO LOUD. Does anyone have any suggestions at all for what I can do to make him bark and whine less?? Or will he always just be this way and I need to get used to it??
Has anyone ever had a very very loud dog that they were able to quiet down?? Please any advice is welcome I want to have a peaceful home and not resent my dog everyday for his loud mouth. Please help me?
