Im not really looking for advice, just feel like expressing my upset. If this is posted in the wrong place I apologize.
My cat has a food allergy, our vet is trying to get it under control. its very difficult because she is a rescue cat and is incredibly skittish. A few months back I took her to a new vet for a checkup on it and some treatment. They gave her a steroid injection to help calm her skin.
Ever since this everything has been horrible.
I have found a new vet since this and I was made aware that these injections can cause diabetes in cats. I remember specifically asking before the injection if there were complications and I was told no. My cat now has all the symptoms of diabetes. Its suspected that she has it..
Im 19 years old, job searching for a new minimum wage job, I come from a low income household. I have no idea how im going to financially or mentally support this anymore..
I am absolutely devastated.
I feel its basically my fault that she will now be sick for the rest of her life. I feel horrible. I just wanted to help her allergies and now ive basically ruined her quality of life. Please Please Please if you have cats or know someone that has cats, tell them to NEVER allow their vet to give this prednisone injection to cats, only pills.
I just wanted to express how upset I am and possibly help other cat owners by making them aware of this.
