I know, I know... the internet is full of solutions, but I want some real talk with this. I have three levels of begging here. My hound mix, Meidri, will sit and stare or play growl/mutter at you, but that's all. You tell her to lay down or go to her crate she'll listen.
My second level is my one year old, Ais (who literally just about everyone knows because of her other issues), who will get right in your face and stare at you, or, if she feels brave, she'll wait until you're not present and then take your food or will lick it while you walk past hoping you'll throw it to her. But she still listens when you tell her to go lay down usually.
My last issue, and probably the absolute worst, is what my pupper Ottarl does. HE doesn't care what you say or do. He will be right up on you about human foods (which I don't even feed him, I don't know if my mom does or not.) and he won't back off. He'll actually start slowly nudging and pushing your cups, plates and bowls off of the table to try knocking it off so he can take your food from you, or, he'll just jump up on you and try to take it from your hands.
Now, I wouldn't slap a puppy... but I need him to stop this, I'd like them all to stop actually, but Ottarl is the worst by far. My mom lets it happen though and actually indirectly encourages it with her own dogs, because she caves into it and gibes them human foods, she lets them sit right in her face all the time, and she lets my dogs do it to, even if I yell at them not to. I'm moving soon though and I absolutely want this behavior corrected, ESPECIALLY Ottarl's behaviors. He's got some balls on him to act so openly and nonchalantly, he doesn't even care if you're watching him do it.
