My two male guinea pigs started fighting a lot. Is it a good idea to have them totally separated for 1 week?

I have 2 male guinea pigs, they are adolescents now, one was noticeably older when we got them so at the beginning he was the dominant one. However, as they've been growing up, the younger one also started showing territorial dominance, so they have begun fighting on and off. There'd be 1 week of total peace, then 1 week of constant fighting, so we started practicing separating them by putting one of them in the cage and the other outside, and they took turns. Two days ago, while they were both outside, they jumped at each other quite ferociously and the older one got badly bitten by the younger one, there was blood, and it was the second time he got bitten, but the first time there was no blood. So I put the cage in another room and the older one there, so they don't see, hear or smell each other. Yesterday I re-introduced them and they started fighting immediately, so I was like "Nope, back to the cage". Now, I want to go to my parents' for a week, and my boyfriend to his parents', and we were wondering if it'd be a good idea to each take one of the guinea pigs with us. Or is there a good chance they'll fight even more when they get back?

(P.S. We have one cage from the zoo shop but let them roam around the room and have a few corners they can go to to find peace, but it seems like one always wants to have ALL the corners. There's also one hidey they both really like, even though there are 3 in the room.)
