Needing help with having dog and cat meet

Before I delve into this, I just want to say that my family and I have been dog people our entire lives. My parents have had had 3 dogs throughout their life time and 2 of them have been while I've been alive. Our dog now is a 10 year old french bulldog who is a big mush, but also has the energy levels of a puppy. So, we're fairly new to living with a cat but have been doing great so far!! And she loves her new home

For a year now I've been wanting a cat (I'm 23 but live at home so convincing my dad that a 2 animal house would be good took a bit). But, about 3 weeks ago we brought home my 11 month old cat. Not only is she an absolute sweet heart, but she is intelligent and fun.

She's been living in my bedroom since she's been home, but we will give her access to the house entire day throughout the week with the dog in a separate room. We've been trying to find a good balance of getting them familiar with each other but since we're fairly new at this we've been a bit hesitant.

Our dog is just excited to see her and wants to play, while she either completely ignores him or hisses a bit since she's scared. I was wondering if anyone has any advice that could help us as we try to transition them into living together? And maybe ease some of our worries?

Also for the record our bulldog cannot climb the stairs, he's extremely scared of them since the wood is slippery, our cat loves the stairs and will run up to my room the second she needs a safe space.
