I recently found this out and it blew my mind, so I figured I'd try to blow some of your alls minds too!
When the delivery person walks up to your door, the dog thinks they are trying to break in. Dogs believe the only reason they don't try harder is because the delivery person sees them. Therefore, in the dog's eyes, they are literally doing their job by keeping the delivery person from going any further.
