We have a 3 month old Australian labradoodle. He has learned sit, down, off, leave it (kind of), knows his potty spot and will go there when told “it’s potty time” and he has a set crate schedule. Our biggest issues right now are his biting and his house training. In regards to biting, he does not respond to “ouch” or yelping - in fact it makes him excited and sometimes he bites more. He’s broken skin several times now. For others, he’ll bite at clothing but for me he’ll bite arms, clothes, skin, hair- and he’ll most frequently have these episodes in the evening time. At this point, we use the walk away method. If I yelp and he doesn’t back off, I walk away/ somewhere he can’t access me. Do you have any recommendations.
In regards to house training, we’ve sectioned off a small part of the house for him but it seems like every time we consider expanding his access, he has an accident. At night he can hold it between 11pm to 6/6:30am and during the day we take him out every 2 hours. When he’s active/ playing we’ll take him out after a burst of activity(running/exciting things) or every 1 hour to ensure he has ample opportunity to go out. It doesn’t seem to be enough and just yesterday he had an accident inside and one today (outside) rn route to his potty spot. Any pointers?
