Need help with partner and pet cat

I'm new to this so I'm not sure if this is where I should ask this and sorry if this is to long to read but idk what to do about how much my partner babies our nearly 2 year old cat. Whenever she (cat) does something wrong my partner sarcastically says no but then goes to coddle her. Or if I fuss at her or have had to spray her my partner goes running after her coddling her again and petting her after she's done something wrong. My partner loves to use the excuse that she's a cat and knows nothing but I keep telling them that cats are not stupid hence why they can be trained.

Ever since we got her earlier last year I've been trying to train her but my partner makes it hard. I've even trained her to ask me for rubs before giving treats, she's learned she has to earn them. But when it comes to training her on more important things like not scratching up furniture or staying off certain things my partner is very unhelpful and always thinks I've physically or mentally hurt the cat when I haven't and that's very clear because the cat and I still have a good relationship. I know sometimes I get a little angrier than necessary but it's because you can clearly see her doing things on purpose or testing us because she knows how my partner is.

This is what kind of lead me here today. Today they were playing and out of nowhere she jumped up and pretty much attached to my head with her claws while I was on the couch, which she knows better than to do. It hurt so much that out of anger I tossed a decor pillow at her, which I know I could have handled better I was just in some real pain in the moment and I definitely didn't seriously hurl it at her with force. But my partner again babies her saying I might have really hurt her and saying they were just playing and cats aren't smart and don't know any better and got mad at me instead. Idk what to do about this because cats are definitely not stupid and that incident was definitely not an accident today. Any advice please?

P.S. my partner and I have been together 9 years and I've had multiple cats before growing up they were trained well.
