He almost never fed him (my lady and I took this upon ourselves). He didn't change his litter; didn't fill his water. He rarely gave the kitty any attention. We take him to the vet and pay for everything.. because, like, he matters.
Meanwhile: This katters is my effin' buddy. I play with him all day. He's constantly in my room; I'm the only lap he'll sit upon. He talks to me a lot (I've come to calling him Mr. Mews, along with my other 40 knicknames).
Our ex-roommate is a drug-addled POS. And that's fine, or whatever; I care about the kitty. He has nowhere to go, his family wants him in rehab (not the cat). But he's trying to get the cat out of here (spite).. yet no one wants to home his cat "until he gets better".
I told my lady that we should just contact the place we used to chip/vaccinate/deworm/etc him (which his owner didn't want to do because it cost money) and tell them the cat has been abandoned and we'd like to take ownership. Like, they can call him, but he doesn't have an actual phone, other than our internet which he can't use.
Very curious as to our options right now. Mr. Mews is our fucking friend and we don't want to let him into a total neglect situation. I can promise it'll be that way. It's fucking infuriating.
