Hi all! Looking for any and all advice. I'm moving into a new house in another state with my 7 year old male cat and not only will he have to go through the moving process and acclimating to a brand new territory, but he will also be sharing his new home with a puppy (5 month old yellow lab male). How can I best ease this transition? I'm planning to keep my cat and puppy separate at first and when I do introduce them I will let my cat have full control of the situation for as long as he needs, but I know that acclimating to a new territory will also be hard on him.
Possibly helpful context: My cat has met dogs before and has done pretty well. He's a big boy (18 pound fluffy tabby). However, he's moved with me in the past and these transitions are tough for him (he's an indoor cat who very much likes his routine and familiar smells).
