I hired a new dog sitter to watch the house and our three dogs while my husband and I are on vacation celebrating our anniversary. I checked my Ring doorbell camera when I was getting a lot of motion notifications and I went down a rabbit hole of seeing my dog sitter bringing home different guys to spend the night, leaving the dogs alone for very extended periods of time, and not spending the night at all on a few occasions, which was mandatory upon hiring her (we are paying her a lot). We are 6 days into this trip with 6 days to go and at least a 10 hour flight away… What would you do? My main concern is obviously the happiness and well being of my dogs. I have one dog that is extremely afraid of new people (it took three meetings with this sitter to get him to come up to her), so I imagine he’s terrified of these guys she’s bringing home. For that same reason, I feel like I can’t just replace her with someone I can find on an app last-minute, especially with it being high season and sitters in demand. I know the dogs are being fed, treated kindly, and getting to go out to use the bathroom (though far less frequently that was promised), so I know they are “fine” but it’s giving me anxiety on this trip that it’s not going as it was described and agreed upon. Looking for any thoughts on how best to handle the situation/confront her.
