Just found out that our Cat (indoor) has fleas. Unsure of how long but we think we may have accidentally taken them in from petting a neighborhood (outdoor) cat. We had been a little more lax on his monthly flea treatment this year which i'm sure also didn't help.
This is my first experience with this and tbh I'm disgusted. I love my cat and feel badly for him, its certainly not his falt (if anyones its ours so I also feel kind of guilty). But I'm struggling with how to manage this without getting overwhelmed.
We're planning to vacuum, steam clean, spray, wash etc EVERYTHING but thats going to take a while. We've re-started his flea medication. But what now? since hes obviously living throughout our house it feels like everytime we clean a room he's lounging somewhere that needs to be re-washed. It feels like we're fighting a losing battle.
I'm also trying (and failing miserably) to get over the "there are bugs hatching all over my house this is disgusting" factor...we haven't experienced any bites or seen any living fleas anywhere other than on the cat. But now I'm afraid of having him on my lap...will eggs spread to my clothes? We've closed off our room so he can't sleep with us for now, but I also don't want him to feel unloved.
ugh. any advice or experience to share here?
