How can I make sure my cat never gets blocked ?

A few days ago I neutered 1 year old male cat. I've heard thay neutered males tend to get blocked easier than unneutered ones. What can I do to make sure that it doesn't happen? I know that he has to stay pretty hydrated so I feed him with wet food from pouches during the day (he doesn't have that much of an appetite for food and canned food gets stale pretty easily, this leads to me throwing more than half of the food out because he doesn't want to eat it). During the night I put a bowl of dry food since he eats again, but he doesn't eat the whole bowl. I can't put wet food because he won't instantly eat it and by the time he does it will already have dried out and he'll refuse to touch it.

I have also placed a few bowls of water around the house so he always has access to it.
