I have never owned a cat before, we went back into lockdown, I contacted a cat rescue to see if they needed any cats fostered for the short term.
I got given Bob, he was a feral cat and had been trapped, had never been in a home before and I don't know how much contact he had with humans.
For the first 2 weeks he didn't leave the bathroom and was very scared. I have now had him like 3 months and am going to keep him for good, he has also warmed to me massively; if I leave he waits by the door for me, he jumps on my desk when im working and usually sleeps on my bed.
But despite this, if I walk towards him and try to stroke him, he will run away, he gets really scared unless he comes to me or he is lying down and I come to him.
He hates being picked up and will go nuts if I ever try, he also won't let me groom him.
I understand due to his past he is likely to be anxious, but I want to get to the point where he doesn't run away and hopefully one day will be able to pick him up if needed.
Does anyone have any tips on how I can solve these issues?
