My boyfriend and I are thinking about getting a small dog. In theory we would have enough time and money to care for one, but we're not sure if we have enough space for a dog and our cats. Our apartment is tiny, about 430 square feet. We do live on the ground floor however and have a garden that is at least twice that, if not more. We also live in an area with lots of forest and a dog park nearby.
Our cats are very happy. We have two cat trees going up to the ceiling, another big cat tree, a lot of toys, they only get high quality food, we play with them every day. They even have a pretty big catio in the garden. The cats are very social and love each other and sleep together every day.
On one hand I think it's better for a dog to live in a tiny apartment for a few years but get plenty of excersice than to live in a shelter (or even be euthanized because there isn't enough place), and on the other hand I think I'm crazy for even considering this. Any input is greatly appreciated!
