My cat won't stop meowing at night. Please help, I've tried everything.

Hi all. This is going to be a long post, because I want to include everything I know and I really have tried everything I can think of.

My boyfriend and I recently adopted a cat named Hoorah. We adopted her from a cat cafe rescue. We believe she's about a year old, is very well behaved for the most part, playful, and generally a very great cat.

Three days after bringing her home, I was diagnosed with Covid-19. The illness wasn't terrible since I've been vaccinated, but I think it set back her settling a little. I slept in the bedroom, my boyfriend on the couch in the living room (we live in a 2-bedroom apartment, with one bedroom, one office room). Hoorah decided to sleep with me in the bedroom. She always slept at the foot of the bed, and we had no issues with it.

After I recovered, my boyfriend moved back to the bedroom. Ever since then, Hoorah has started meowing incessantly at nighttime. We're talking every hour or so. It's waking us up, and its starting to really piss my boyfriend off.

A few things to know:

  1. Hoorah is still warming up to my boyfriend. She's very friendly towards me, but she seems skittish and nervous around him and people she doesn't know. My boyfriend has autism, so his reactions can sometimes be loud or spontaneous. I think this is what's making Hoorah skittish around him. Hoorah will not sleep in the bed when he's in it. She's hopped onto the bed and made to go to sleep, but hasn't stayed through the night like she did with me.

  2. I adopted Hoorah from the cafe on my own. My boyfriend was at work during the day and I went to go get her by myself.

  3. I work from home, so I'm typically around Hoorah more than my boyfriend is.

  4. My boyfriend and I both interact with Hoorah regularly. We play with her through the day and evening to stimulate her, make sure she is regularly fed and watered (she snacks, so I always have food out for her), and I clean her litterbox at least three times a week (once a week deep clean).

  5. Hoorah has plenty of toys and things to keep her stimulated. I bought her a cat tree, she has both non-stimulating and stimulating toys (i.e. those ball tower things that she can play with on her own) and she plays both with us and by herself regularly.

  6. Hoorah is a very vocal cat. Her meows change depending on what she's trying to tell us. For example, if she wants attention she'll do her normal short meow. Yesterday she threw up, and it was a long, drawn out meow. The meows she uses at our bedroom door are short mews, not unlike when she wants attention but still different.

  7. I've tried both keeping the bedroom door open and shut. The first night of keeping it shut was okay, but the second night resulted in loud meows, scratching, and headbutting the door.

  8. I've tried positive and negative reinforcement. I don't pet her when she meows for attention. Instead, I wait until she's silent to lean down and pet her. When she meows at night, I spray her once with a spraybottle.

Please, please help me. I'm afraid that my boyfriend is going to make me get rid of her if we don't solve this issue. I'll edit if I remember any more details.
