Sorry, I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this. My post got auto-banned from r/cats without a detailed reason, so I'm not sure if my question is just not allowed. Please let me know!
Hi, I went to go check out a kitten I saw online at an animal control place, but when the employee took the kitten out, she didn't move. He was holding her by the back of the neck/scruff area, but in a more supported fashion. I'm not even sure if kittens blink, but she didn't at all. She was about 10-11 weeks old and then I spotted blood coming from her butt as well, which caused the employee to freak out and ask another employee about it. They said that the kitten was having a really hard time pooping and was bleeding during her attempts due to the food she was eating and that they were changing it to something different. It looked like she had hemorrhoid that was quite noticeably red.
Also, she wasn't in her container when I arrived. She was hiding in a small tunnel completely out of sight. The employee had to open the back panel to find her and then pulled her out, again, in a near lifeless state. I ran my finger down her head, but no response.
Any idea what may be wrong with that kitten aside from what they said about her food?
A family member told me that the place was pretty bad from a condition/cleanliness standpoint. For reference, it appears to be a kill shelter.
There are a lot of other smaller, younger kittens there too and some other cats. Is there a chance that the kitten is sick and could contaminate the others?
