Need help, parents want to put cat down

Hey guys. Recently, my family’s cat has been acting out. She’s urinating and defecating around the house in front of us. We took her to the vet three times, but they said she’s not sick or anything and likely just stressed. The reason she’s stressed is obvious: we are renovating our house, so there’s constantly a lot of workmen inside and loud hammer and drill noises etc. One of the rooms we’re renovating is the study, a room she always slept in. Construction should only last for another 2 months or so, but my parents are talking about putting her down. They said that when a cat relieves herself around the house, she is sick. Their evidence is that they used to have a cat before I was born that did the same. However, our current cat is 8 years old while their old cat was 15. That cat also had diabetes and seizures. There was never anything to cause her high levels of stress, unlike with our current cat. Our cat isn’t gaining or losing any weight and hasn’t had changes in her personality. But my parents “think they are certain she will have to be out down.” Unfortunately, I’m moving out in literally a week to start college in another city. I’m really the only one the cat likes (she likes my mom to a lesser extent). It seems like they’re waiting until I leave to get rid of her. I get that they don’t want to deal with this behavior, but the construction is going to be over in 2 months. Yet they are certain that she is getting sick despite what the vet says, citing only their old cat. I am not allowed to bring a pet to college. What can I do?
