I have two cats, the same age (1.5), a boy and a girl, both neutered and spayed. They get along great, they sleep, cuddle, play together. The issues are with my girl. She has been having different issues for exactly 1 month now.
It started with her running around crazily and panting with open mouth, seemingly out of nowhere. I thought it was the heat (it's been quite warm here), but she kept doing this more and more on a daily basis (without a clear trigger, atleast to me). She used to be able to play endlessly (even in the summer heat of last year) and now she is panting after a few minutes of playtime. A little later I found blood in her stool. I took her to the vet and they examined her and a sample of her stool. They found nothing wrong with her stool and advised going on a full wet food diet (before it was a mix of dry/wet).
After examining her physically and checking her everywhere, they couldn't find a clear physical cause for the running/panting and said it might be stress due to some change. Nothing really changed in my household, so I'm not sure what might have triggered it. The only thing they did find was a weird sound when she purred, and they thought it could be an infection so I got some medicine for her. Other than that they concluded it was stress.
After this visit I switched to the full wet diet and there was no more blood in her stool. The medicine for the nose however caused her to throw up all her meals, so we consulted the vet again and we took her off of them after 2 days (but the vet confirmed in the next visit that she no longer heard the issue with her nose/purring).
The throwing up, however, never fully stopped, but it's getting less and less. She will usually meow loudly before she would puke, so one time I took her on my lap, talked to her calmly and she ended up not puking. The puking could also be stress related I assumed after that. She was also still doing her 'stress runs' throughout the house at random moments of the day. It did seem to help calm her down when I held her and hugged her when she started them, so that is what I have been doing.
I thought she was slowly getting better over time and less stressed until a few days ago I noticed a new issue: bloody/red nipples on her stomach. Took her back to the vet, got cream for them, and some other medicine. Been using it and they are starting to look better. This issue seems coincidence according to the vet, just irritation. She is still physically fine, nothing strange.
Now last night, I suddenly noticed red spots on the back of her back legs as well. It looks a bit raw, but it's not bleeding, but definitely red on both of her backlegs. Planning to take her to the vet again, but I'm not sure if I am (or the vet) is missing some other non stress related issue that could be causing all of this or if she is now stress-washing herself until raw (she does wash a lot, but she always has been).
She is still very playful, purr-y, cuddly and her normal social self apart from these issues. What else can I do to calm her down? I am feeling a little lost and just want my baby to be fine again.
