My cat is three and we adopted her from the RSPCA two years ago.
She had a tumour, roughly the size of a golf ball, removed from her nipple area a few months ago. I didn't get any tests on the tumour or her because I couldn't afford it and I don't have pet insurance.
Two new lumps have appeared in the same region and the vet told me he thought it was cancer after looking at the cells under a microscope. He also tested her for FIV because he heard crackling in her lungs and she has bad gingivitis. She came back negative but she could have other underlying immune disorders or the cancer is weakening her immune system.
I'm not sure how long she has to live and so I don't know if we should remove the tumours again. I don't know if it will extend her life or just put her through pain and isolation throughout the recovery. She likes to sit in the sun and after the first surgery, she could only sit indoors, separated from the rest of the pets.
I was recommended an x-ray of the lungs/abdominal to see where the tumours are before I decide on the surgery.
Do you guys have any advice or personal experiences?
