Banfield Pet Plan

Stay far away from Banfield and their Pet Plan! I recently had to say goodbye to my 15year old dog. I’ve had a pet plan with Banfield since she was a puppy. Over the years they’ve raised prices and it was harder to get appointments. I had no idea that for 15 years I was in a contract that renewed every July. Lucy died on 8/1 a month after this contract renewal. I called two months after her passing to tell them to stop charging my account. I was already upset since I took her to Banfield to be euthanized you’d think they’d communicate? When I called I was told I have to fulfill the rest of my contract or pay $190 to cancel! This was never communicated to me when I was in the process of saying goodbye at the hospital or when I originally signed up. I’ve been paying $40 a month for nearly 15 years to call every Banfield in a 30 mile radius every time something happened Bc appointments are impossible to get. I had to call 20+ times to get an appointment when she was dying. By the time we had arrived they tried to tell me to wait in the car- after the lady on the phone said it was okay to go in, and she was so dehydrated that they couldn’t take any blood. This company does not have you or your dogs best interest in mind. They are greedy and not upfront with what is/isn’t covered.

Just for info- It’s $40 a month for a dog and only covers bloodwork once a year and vaccinations. (If you can get an appointment) No, they do not cover euthanasia at all. I think we paid around $300 at the end. They say medication is discounted but medication is always cheaper at Costco or Chewy.com

In the end we should have gone to a local vet and paid every time we had to see them. It would have saved us so much money and we would have had better care.
