Can I let my cats be around 'toxic' plants if they won't chew them?

I'm moving my two 8 year old cats into my apartment with my partner. We have lots of house plants, and it seems like every single one of them appear on the 'toxic for cats' lists. I know my cats won't chew them they never seem to chew things besides food. They've been around lilies, brushed against them, before we knew how bad they could be.

Is it safe to move my cats in? Or should I put the 'toxic' plants in another room and make sure to keep an eye on the cats? Or should I convince (haha good luck) my partner to give up the plants?
