Hi all!
I have been on the hunt to adopt a cat from my city for months and have contacted all of the possible rescue organizations with little success. I am not looking for anything in particular, just a cat that can keep me company. My friend told me about how her sister adopted a barn kitten and brought it home. Curiosity got the better of me and I decided to search up some barn kittens in my area and I see some looking for homes! I am very tempted to bring one home. The posting says that the cat is 12 weeks old. If it is a feral cat, then I will not consider it. The person described the kitten as "Very sweet but still need taming as she is shy." My other friend is saying that I should not bring it home since the kitten is not yet vaccinated and who knows what health issues the cat has.
I am torn and am a bit tired of putting out cat adoptions to no avail. I know that the right cat will come along eventually. Should I adopt the barn kitten? Is there anything that I am not considering when potentially bringing home a barn kitten? I know there is the possibility of it not being as socialized as other cats. I am also hoping that the cat will be able to be an indoor only cat and this should be within the realm of possibility since it is mentioned that the kittens have been indoors only the past couple of weeks.
